Off-camera flash

On Tuesday 13th September Paul Hanley gave a demonstration on the use of flash in portrait photography. With the camera attached to the laptop and it in turn attached to the projector, we were able to view each portrait as it was captured. Paul was able to show the creative lighting that could be accomplished by taking the flash off-camera and bouncing light off reflectors and through various diffusers, demonstrating with one, two and then three light sources. For those of us who haven’t worked with off-camera flash before it was a very ‘illuminating’ evening, and leads us nicely into next week when the members get to put their learning to the test and try for some interesting portraits of their own. Many thanks to Paul for sharing his knowledge and equipment.
