Results 2021

On Tuesday 11th January 2022 CPA hosted a virtual feedback session for the large-format, print only Will McCrum Memorial Competition for Portraiture. It was hoped that a physical event could be held but unfortunately the current restrictions limiting the number of persons allowed in our club room meant that this wasn’t feasible. However, we were very pleased to be in a position to collect prints and run the competition this year as we were unable to hold it in 2020.

Our judge, Gerry Coe of Bangor and North Down Camera Club, provided his feedback on all the entries. For this, the ninth competition to mark Will’s legacy, we received 76 entries from 13 members of 6 clubs. A total of 13 images were placed.

Congratulations to our winners:

1st place – Who’s Laughing Now – Dean Irvine, Catchlight Camera Club
2nd place – Jab – Dean Irvine, Catchlight Camera Club
3rd place – Minnie – Rosemary Hughes, Dungannon & Cookstown Camera Club

Three images were Highly Commended:

Ghost Spider – Dean Irvine, Catchlight Camera Club
Mono Madonna – Jennifer Willis, Catchlight Camera Club
Sacred Flower – Ross McKelvey, Catchlight Camera Club

Seven images were Commended:

Emerald Clown – Ross McKelvey, Catchlight Camera Club

There is no doubt that Dean stole the show with a total of five placed images and some very creative work. Very well done to all the placed authors and to Gerry for sharing his expertise. Finally, thank you to everyone who supported the competition this year, it was much appreciated.

We hope to be able to display the prints at CPA when circumstances allow to let everyone appreciate the quality of the printing and the impact of large format images.

1st – Dean Irvine
