NIPA Top Club 2022-23

We are delighted to announce that CPA Camera Club have once again been crowned Top Club in the Northern Ireland Photographic Association for 2022-23 following five rounds of competition.

In the Principal Competition, CPA placed first in the Mono section, first in the Colour section, first in the PDI section, and were therefore overall winners with a score of 566.5 – over 30 points ahead of our closest competitor. Second place went to CB Camera Club with a score of 536.0, BPIC were in third place with 534.5, and Ballynahinch Camera Club took fourth place with 526.0.

In the Novice Competition, CPA placed first in the Mono section, tenth in the Colour section, sixth in the PDI section, but were overall winners with a score of 163. Second place went to BPIC with a score of 162, CB Camera Club were in third place with 161, and Ballynahinch Camera Club again took fourth place with 160. With only one mark between each of the top four clubs, the Novice Competition was exceedingly tight.

We’d like to send our congratulations to CB Camera Club, Belfast Photo Imaging Club and Ballynahinch Camera Club especially, but also to all the clubs who entered the Interclub Competition this season. The standard of images was amazing and it was great to be back to prints and in-person adjudication events.

The last time CPA were Top Club, in the 2017-18 season, our final score was 536.0 so by comparison we were seeing consistently higher scoring images from our members this season; a total of 24 images gained stars with marks of 13 or above, but a significant number scored above average. A huge thank you to every member who entered images for consideration in each of the rounds and to each of the five judges who gave their time to come along to the club to provide feedback on all the images. Congratulations again to all those whose images were selected to represent the club at NIPA – you did us proud!

NIPA is run by volunteers who give up a substantial amount of their time during the year to ensure the smooth running of the Interclub Competition that we all enjoy so much, and which sets Northern Ireland apart from other federations across the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. It would be remiss not to also offer our sincere thanks to all those volunteers for their efforts – both behind the scenes in organising the judging of the images and front of house at the adjudication events – the Competition Committee members, NIPA officers and guest judges – well done one and all.
